Boyle Receives Two CMAA Project Achievement Awards

Boyle Project Manager Todd Fairfield was on hand at the Construction Management Association of America Mid-Atlantic Chapter Awards Dinner on June 6 to receive Boyle’s two Project Achievement Awards. Our firm won awards for the Easton Public Market and Allentown Community Lot Parking Deck projects.

The Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) Mid-Atlantic Chapter awarded Boyle Construction, Inc. two of its 2017 Project Achievement Awards for the Easton Public Market and Allentown Community Lot Parking Deck projects. Boyle will receive the awards tonight at the 2017 Project Achievement Awards Dinner at the Camden Aquarium.

The CMAA’s annual Construction Management Project Achievement Awards Program recognizes outstanding achievement in construction management. Designed to recognize and promote professionalism and excellence in managing the construction process, the awards are given to construction management firms for projects and programs that reflect this mission.

The Easton Public Market project won the CMAA 2017 Private Sector Projects under $20 Million category. Boyle served as construction manager for this project’s 15,550 SF of renovations, which redeveloped an old storefront into a vibrant downtown public space with fresh food vendors and community learning kitchens for the Greater Easton Development Partnership. Boyle transformed this existing urban, storefront building into an open floor plan market with over 14 vendor booths. The project included demolition, prepping the shell space for vendor stations, refinishing existing wood floors, matching walls from multiple structures, creating new fitouts and finishes for 14 vendor stations, tailoring MEP for each station, and façade improvements. The project team also included Artefact, Inc., architect; Schoonover & Vanderhoof Architects, Dundore & Heister’s fitout; Barry Isett & Associates, structural engineer; and BSEG, MEP engineer. The Easton Public Market also won the Lehigh Valley Planning Commission’s 2016 Revitalization Project Award, Lehigh Chamber of Commerce’s 2017 CRED Award, and the 2016 Discover Lehigh Valley Tourism Award.

The Allentown Community Lot Parking Deck project won the CMAA 2017 Infrastructure Projects under $20 Million category. Boyle was the agency construction manager for this Allentown Parking Authority project, a seven-level, 1,000-car parking deck in downtown Allentown. The Community Lot came in under budget and was completed seven weeks ahead of schedule. The project featured extensive shoring and precast construction. Its urban site posed construction staging and safety issues, with Boyle maintaining safe pedestrian and vehicular circulation around the construction site. The project team included Bracy Contracting, general contractor; Timothy Haahs & Associates, architect/structural engineer; Maser Consulting, civil engineer; Advantage Engineers, geotechnical/environmental engineer; and HB Engineers, MEP engineer.

“These projects both posed construction challenges with the Easton Public Market’s 14 separate vendor clients and the Community Lot’s tight, downtown site. We are proud to have helped Easton and Allen-town continue their urban redevelopment,” commented Sean Boyle, Boyle Construction president.
