Position Overview

Title: Construction Material Driver

Reports to: Warehouse Logistics Supervisor

The Construction Materials Driver plays a key role in supporting field operations by fulfilling jobsite material requests and ensuring materials, tools, and equipment are delivered safely, accurately, and on time. This position works closely with project teams to keep projects moving on schedule. The ideal candidate is reliable, safety-minded, and takes pride in supporting the team through strong attention to detail and clear communication.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Include, but are not limited to:

• Safely operate DOT rated vehicles to deliver construction materials to commercial job sites
• Load, secure, transport, and unload materials in accordance with company policies and DOT regulations
• Conduct pre-trip, post-trip, and routine vehicle inspections and report maintenance issues promptly
• Verify delivery orders, invoices, and shipping documents for accuracy
• Coordinate with warehouse personnel, project managers, and site supervisors to ensure on-time deliveries
• Assist with loading and unloading materials using forklifts, cranes, or other equipment as required
• Maintain delivery logs, inspection reports, and other required documentation
• Follow all safety procedures, company policies, and federal, state, and local transportation regulations
• Communicate professionally with customers and job-site personnel
• Keep vehicles clean and in good working condition
• Work independently and as a team to assemble, load, and unload field orders
• Receiving and stocking warehouse items, keeping accurate inventory records
• Operate vehicles and machinery as needed (i.e., forklift, trailers)
• Provide support to the office as needed

Qualifications and Other Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of building construction (tools and construction materials)
• Experience operating commercial vehicles in a construction, building materials, or related environment
• Ability to lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds or more with assistance
• Strong knowledge of vehicle safety practices and load securement procedures
• Ability to back up a trailer
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet DOT vehicle driver requirements
• Must pass a pre-employment physical and drug screening to obtain a DOT driver’s medical card
• Forklift certification (company will provide if needed)
• OSHA 30 certification (company will provide if needed)

Essential Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Ability to work in an environment which may include: fumes, odors, chemicals, sawdust, and ash
• Ability to work in an environment with noises in the range of 30-85 db
• Ability to lift or push up to one hundred (100) pounds, or in excess thereof, with the use of proper equipment or assistance
• Ability to lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds
• Ability to use hand tools safely
• Ability to use electric tools safely
• Ability to walk up and down steps, climb ladders, staging, and scaffolding and on uneven ground
• Ability to bend, twist, reach, stretch, and work in tight spaces
• Ability to drive a motor vehicle and large construction or box trucks
