Memorable Projects: Todd Fairfield

Todd Fairfield was recently promoted to Project Executive overseeing Boyle’s core clients across many industries. Having been on jobsites since 1993, Todd’s problem-solving expertise has been serving his clients for decades. When asked about his most memorable office projects, Todd had a lot to say about working with end users and making spaces they can enjoy into the future.

Some of Todd’s memorable projects through the years were building the First Commonwealth Federal Credit Union and Buckeye Pipeline headquarters in Trexlertown, and overseeing the construction of Boyle’s new headquarters at 3850 Sierra Circle in Center Valley.

“I really pride myself and our team on creating spaces that reflect their business and style. For instance, our new Boyle office has industrial style materials and increased collaboration spaces that our team really wanted to add in the new office. I like to always think about the end user’s needs, we are building everything with a purpose.”

Todd is constantly pushing the schedule, too, during all phases from tracking land development activities to preconstruction design meetings and trade partners during the construction phase. “I’m constantly asking myself, ‘How am I going to get it done on time?’ What can I be doing now that will save time next week, next month or next year?“

The Boyle team takes pride in moving everyone in the same direction, from design professionals to owner vendors and trade partners. When working with a company’s headquarters, often there are unique aspects that are specific to the company goals of a welcoming workplace or a reflection of their history. Todd enjoys this part of the project the most.

“When you work with a company to create their new space, they usually want a uniqueness to their culture or history. Whether that’s a historic timeline of their company growth or an open concept floorplan and stairwell that can fit an all-company meeting, I enjoy the challenge. Figuring out how it will work and fit into the design seamlessly is exciting.”

Another aspect that Todd enjoys on these projects is utilizing technology to coordinate trade partners and proactively resolve conflicts before construction. “Using BIM models allows us to see any conflicts and coordinate the project as a whole, not just piece by piece. BIM allows everyone on the project to understand their impact on the entire building.”

All buildings have unique nuances to work through during the project, and the Boyle team helps make our client’s vision a reality.
